Will a cover prevent blue-green algae blooms in a stock pond?

Cyanobacteria are photosynthetic — cut the light and you remove the energy source that drives a bloom. At up to 99% surface coverage the water column below an AWTT cover receives effectively no direct sunlight, which is why the New Mexico stock-tank study reported no algae or moss growth in covered tanks. A cover is a preventive control, not a treatment: if you already have an active bloom, work with your veterinarian and state extension service to keep livestock off that water source before covering.
